Evaluation.
My brief was to turn MTV into something other that a just a broadcaster, and my concept should be based around an object or experience.
I was more interested with the experience aspect of this rather that an object. After coming up with a range of ideas, I thought to myself that If MTV were to be an experience, it would have to be the biggest and best experience that young adults could have. Disney world, in my opinion, has got to be the best experience that you can have as you feel that you are entering another world. With this idea in mind I wanted to create something similar for MTV.
MTV is now the biggest youth media brand and I want to create a 'world' full of things relating to youth culture. I decided that the best way to tackle this idea was to create an illustrative map showing what the place would look like and what was on offer.
I split the world up into eight zones, with each zone related to a genre or sub-culture of music. Each zone would have a range of activities and experiences related to that genre of music. Things that are on offer range from indoor skydiving, the worlds largest roller disco, driving in a super car and even a booze cruise that takes you to a private island where you can dance the night away at MTV Worlds very own nightclub. The appearance of MTV World may not be what you expect with metal flooring, where you would expect grass to grow, and multi coloured trees all around you. Entering MTV World will be like nowhere you’ve ever been before.
My Target audience is the young at heart and although this is predominately aimed at 16’s - 30’s, anyone with an interest in music or is simply looking for a good time will enjoy their stay at MTV World.
This concept is a place that celebrates young people and continues the tradition of MTV to pioneer music and the sub-cultures that come with it.
I needed to brand this concept so I created an eye catching corporate identity using yellow and black lines that feature within MTV World as one of the first things you see as you enter.
I also decided to create some promotional work, including posters and a short video to be screened before it’s opening. I was very pleased with the outcome of these, in particular the short video that grabs your attention and creates a sense of intrigue about MTV World.
The slogan for MTV World is: The ultimate Experience.

Measuring the success of my concept...
To measure the success of MTV World I will have to monitor visitor numbers and assess it’s income.
I will have to consider operating costs that will cover staff salaries and maintenance.
Customer satisfaction is also vital so I shall introduce an online and offline questionnaire or survey for customers to compleat.

Zonal Map.
Final Map... Finally!
and so we have it... finally my map is complete and I am pleased with how it has turned out.
I intended my map to be bright and colourful, so instead of using white trees, I coloured the trees the same colour as the Zone they surround. I am very pleased with the outcome of this idea.
I also used the idea of coloured stripes, as I felt this was the most graphic and bold design I had developed and I was keen to use it. It also works with the corporate identity.
As I have never realy constructed anything like this ever before, I am very pleased with the outcome of my final map.

Promotional Video.
Poster Ideas...
Early Idents...
Here are some early videos that I produced using some old logo ideas.
Now that I have an identity for my concept, I intend to create a short promo video for submission.

New Logos...
After creating some different map designs, I was pleased with yellow and black stripe effect I used for the first zone, Pop Avenue.
It would be the first thing you see when you enter and I felt that it would instantly catch your attention and make you realize that you have not stepped into another kiddies amusement park, but the strange world that is MTV.
I thought that the yellow and black stripes could be a good way the promote MTV World and use as its corporate identity.
Below are a few logo ideas using these colours.
